F3F: Childish Gambino
Donald Glovers witty humor shines through in the lyrics and style of his hip-hop side project Childish Gambino. His band is as diverse as his career with each member looking like they belong in a completely different genre from rock and indie to country. He literally took his show to new heights by climbing the scaffolding and singing on top of the speakers then crawling around on the ground. Even his band was jumping higher than the crowd, which really kept the energy high through their entire set. It was an odd but nice surprise when the bassist began singing an A Capella version of Adele’s Rolling in the Deep. Incredibly soulful voice that had not only me singing along, but the entire crowd. Donald followed up by showcasing his remixing and comedic talents, playing his own version of Rihanna’s All of the Lights, which left me with a new appreciation for current day hip-hop.
