F3F: Dan Deacon At The Blue Stage
Walking up to the blue stage, two things are obvious. Dan Deacon is having major problems with the sound (bad D.I. boxes maybe?) and he is getting frustrated, which just seems weird for the perpetually happy Baltimore crunk king. Unhappy with his situation to say the least Dan soldiered on saying, “This is like running a race with one leg… while crying.”
Despite barely even being able to get his set going Dan’s crowd was super amped and ready to rage, it was almost as if the sound problems made everyone want to listen, enjoy and dance harder…which they did.
Deacon on the floor rather than the stage as per usual, held a dusty-ass dance contest featuring a dude in a banana suit, I saw a guy pull off the stand up – Iggy Pop – crowd surf walk and everyone else just danced in spite of the technical issues.
Dan Deacon gigs are fun and this was no exception.
Oh and guess what ladies, I stood next to Ryan “Baby Goose” Gossling during Deacon’s set.
That dude looks like how fresh $100 dollar bills smell… even with a cashmere sweater wrapped around his face.
