Taco Bell + Your Favorite Band = ?

If you were to ask me what the dudes from Wavves and Andrew WK eat while in tour I’d say,”uummmm probably a lot of Taco Bell and Mountain Dew.”
And now it’s more than just speculation.
The good people of Taco Bell have decided to give bands $500 worth of free Taco Bell to help “fuel” them while on tour as part of their ‘Feed the Beat’ campaign.
In a world where most bands have at least one annoying dietary stipulation this is actually kind of welcome news.
As if touring wasn’t already extremely unhealthy/comprised of a rich array or aromas – enough.
But hey touring is all about survival.
Not living….survival. Exactly what a nearly unlimited supply of ‘Volcano Burritos’ implies.
Let’s look at the list of bands who are most certainly going to soon learn a very important lesson:

“Great music. Free food. That’s Feed the Beat.
For five consecutive years, Taco Bell® and its Feed the Beat® program have provided a total of 365 music artists/bands with $500 in Taco Bell Bucks. Touring music artists can relate to eating on the road and Taco Bell wants to help by picking up their post-show late-night dinner tabs so they can focus on their true passion: music.
Beyond Taco Bell Bucks, Feed the Beat helps artists get noticed through the brand’s menu of influential sponsorships and marketing opportunities. This has included performances at the MTV Video Music Awards, ESPN in-broadcast exposure through highlight reels, and the 2009 “Best of the Beat” contest that landed three Feed the Beat artists with a well-known producer to record a single.
Taco Bell and Feed the Beat also sponsored the 2010 PureVolume House at Austin’s biggest music festival, featuring multiple Feed the Beat artists and giving out free food throughout the day and night. The Taco Bell Truck, in its nationwide travels, stops at music festivals along tour to feed bands and hungry fans, and even starred in a 2010 music video.
Feed the Beat alumni artists include some of the most exciting acts today. Check out the links above for our 2010 artist lineup and alumni artists to find out more!”
That the bands are administered ‘Taco Bell Bucks’ is maybe my favorite part.
It’s like those company stores that Robber Barons set up before there were any labor laws in this country.
And yes, I double checked to make sure this isn’t a joke.
Check it out here. (DING)
Hipster Runoff also has some thoughts on the issue.
It’s times like this that I’m glad I live in America.
PS-
At least one of the dudes from one of these bands is going to use his ‘Taco Bell Bucks’ in order to:
Ingratiate himself to a lady (and the best part is that it will work.)
Trade for booze.
Trade for pot.
Trade for any other food besides Taco Bell.
